Yavapai Point MuseumA few moments later we were dropped off at Yavapai Point. We looked at some displays of the Grand Canyon story from a geological perspective. A park ranger was gathering some children together to discuss the diverse climates encountered at various levels of the canyon.

Through panoramic glass windows at the front of the museum, we could see some mules down below headed for Plateau Point. Another park ranger was describing the effort it took to build the Kaibab Suspension Bridge, the only crossing of the Colorado River between the Hoover Dam and Navajo Bridge some 300 miles away. At Yavapai Point we could see Havasupai Point and the Powell Plateau to the west and Yaki Point to the east with the ribbons of the Kaibab Trail ascending to the rim. The Phantom ranch and the Bright Angel Canyon were more clearly visible below.

Raven at the Grand CanyonA shimmering Raven lighted on a stonewall momentarily and then took flight in search of food. Once in flight, the Raven soared from one updraft to another, rising higher and higher, effortlessly. Seeing this challenged me to reflect on this thermal phenomenon and to look for similar relationships in the business world when I returned to the office.
